About the car

Try an electric car, without taking the plunge. Electric power makes this small car great- a lot of power off the line, plus the battery weight makes the car feel more stable.

NO HOV STICKERS - if you are looking for those, unfortunately I don't have them.

The car comes with a chargepoint RFID tag, and no Level 1 charging. I recommend you download the chargepoint app for your phone. I will bill you actual usage charges as mileage at the time you return your rental (i.e. if you incur $4.50 in charges, I'll submit as 6 miles over @ .75 per mile, or you can pay cash). Also, for every 2% the car is returned below 95% charged, I will charge you .75 or 1 mile, i.e. returning at 50% would incur a charge of $17.25 (rounding up to nearest mile).

This is a super-fun way to do an extended test drive and see if EV life is for you. Car comes with Siriux XM radio, Nav system, heated seats, etc. Black exterior with white interior and orange piping.

If you download the chargepoint mobile app, there are free Level 2 chargers in Campbell and Redwood City downtown. There are also great spots to charge near old town Oakland and near the Presidio in San Francisco. If you can make the day a bit leisurely, so you can get a couple hours interim charge in, you can easily make it to Napa... where there are several chargers. I've gone up and back from San Jose in a day.

If you are flying in, the car is about a 25 dollar cab ride from the airport (it's not located at the airport).

Yes, there are rebates for these cars - but the insurance is higher than you'd expect, as insurance companies don't yet know how to rate the cars; if you install your own rapid charger, that's a $2k investment, plus electrical wiring, panel upgrades, permits, etc - the costs can climb to thousands of dollars. And... if you lease... you don't get the $7500 federal tax credit.

Final note: when charging, after plugging in, make sure that you choose "charge now" and begin to see the LEDs on the dash blink - if they do not, the car is not charging.
