About the car

I use my car primarily to cart my girlfriend and her electric wheelchair places King Country Metro won't get us easily, so it goes unused most days. Since I use a folding ramp on the bumper and have never cared much for painstakingly detailing my ride, the paint has got a few scratches and the inside might have a couple knicks in the plastic, but it's otherwise in great condition and well-maintained. On the plus side, you should feel free to use it if you need to borrow a car for moving or bringing home your IKEA furniture without having to worry about scuffing up the upholstery or something. I don't sweat the small stuff.

GREAT CAR
The Honda Fit is a fabulously versatile car with 40/60 split rear seating that folds flat or, uniquely, folds into an upright position for storing items as tall as the cabin interior from foot well to ceiling--great for taller plants and anything else that can't be laid down flat. If you have lots of baggage or irregularly shaped items but also want a small, fuel-efficient car, you can't go wrong.

Being a low-mileage 2012 Honda, it won't break down on you. I would prefer somebody didn't burn out my clutch or repeatedly stall my engine, so please only rent this if you are familiar with driving a manual transmission car.

PHONE MOUNT, FREE PARKING
I have installed a smart phone mount and USB charger with a routed cable for a micro USB device (but getting your iPhone cable to it is easy). I have free underground parking at my building, which you are welcome to use if your plans find you in the vicinity of my apartment (parking can be hard to find on Capitol Hill).

DOOR-TO-DOOR SERVICE
I can meet you at your home anywhere in Seattle. Areas outside of Seattle will be charged the airport rate. I will drive back to my apartment and hand off the keys.

AIRPORT RENTERS:
I offer a few options.

1. I will deliver the car to you at the arrivals terminal and make my way home via public transit. I will also retrieve the vehicle from the departures terminal at a predetermined time (probably about 2 hours prior to your departure). Because I do not live near the airport, and given the possibility of flight delays/changed plans and the necessity of time buffers to avoid missed flights or lots of waiting on your part, this is inconvenient for me, and I charge through RelayRides for dropping off the car at the terminal and picking it up upon your departure. You may prefer this if your plans take you South of the airport rather than into Seattle or points North/East.

2. (BEST BET, EASY AND CHEAP) You take the LINK light rail, which conveniently runs directly from SeaTac airport all the way to downtown Seattle's Westlake station (the last stop.. there's NO getting lost, I promise!). I will meet you outside the station, which is MUCH nearer to my home (and the things you probably want to do and see in Seattle). You call or text me when you're on the train, enjoy the scenery, take the elevator to the surface, and voila, I pick you up. I'll drive us back to my apartment nearby, hand off the keys, and you're good to go. You meet me at my apartment about 3 hours prior to your departing flight, and I'll take you back to Westlake, where you enjoy the train ride back to the airport. This will cost you only $20. This is probably your best bet if you are visiting the Seattle area and not making your way south of the airport. The last train leaves the airport for downtown just after midnight and the first train leaves Westlake bound for the airport just before 5am. Trains run about every 8-10 minutes and cost $2.75 ($0.75 for disabled riders). Find out more about the LINK airport connection at http://www.soundtransit.org/Rider-Guide/Popular-destinations/Airport-service.

3. Meet me directly at my apartment and make your own way to/from the airport for free. I live one 10 minute bus ride on the 10 or 43 from Westlake station. The LINK and all buses in Seattle are wheelchair accessible.

Availability

I work at home and only use my car occasionally for usually flexible activities like shopping or day trips outside the range of King County Metro, so if it's not marked on my calendar, there's a good chance it will be available. I will be conscientious about updating my calendar with planned activities.
