CEO

Andre Haddad

Andre Haddad loves cars, the consumer web and the environment... RelayRides is the perfect synthesis of all three! He joined as CEO of RelayRides in September 2011. Before RelayRides, Andre was CEO of Shopping.com, the leading online comparison-shopping network, a company eBay acquired for $600M in 2005. Before Shopping.com, Andre was Senior Vice President, Product at eBay. He was responsible for product management, design and research at eBay’s global marketplace business ($5.1B in revenue, $65B in gross merchandize volume, 100M active users in 2007). Andre played several roles at eBay including GM in Europe, VP International Operations and VP User Experience and Design. Previous to eBay, Andre co-founded iBazar, a leading European auction marketplace, which was acquired by eBay in 2001 for $140m. Andre was the COO at iBazar, overseeing Product, Marketing, Operations and International. Before iBazar, Andre was a brand manager at P&G and a consultant at Booz Allen & Hamilton. He graduated from HEC Paris.

Alex Benn

Alex has been driving and sharing since age 3; his parents liked the sharing better. He later piloted vehicles from mopeds to Maseratis, worked as a mechanic, circled North America on a modified sportbike, and created an informal car sharing program in the 1990’s. Alex was VP of BD at Walmart’s Global Ecommerce division, and led Strategy and BD at Minted and Fidex, two online marketplaces. Alex began his online career at eBay in 1999, executing many of eBay’s significant early partnerships following his time as a lawyer at Cooley Godward. He is a graduate of Stanford Law School and Brown University.

Tom Wang

Tom Wang has an extensive background in creating world-class Internet and mobile products. His background includes product leadership roles at large public companies, such as America Online and Nokia, and groundbreaking Silicon Valley start-ups, such as Formspring, Spinner and Organic. Tom holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters degree from Northwestern.

Director of Marketing & Analytics

Andrew Mok

Ever since Andrew first plugged into the internet via a 56k dial-up modem, he’s been preoccupied with finding online ways to improve the offline world. He joined RelayRides in January 2012 as Business Intelligence Manager and now oversees Marketing & Analytics. Whether it be LTV, CAC, or CPC, Andrew believes that the only way to scale a business sustainably is by maintaining healthy metrics. Previously, Andrew was a management consultant with Bain & Company, specializing in private equity and M&A. Prior to Bain, Andrew worked as a developer for Life360. He graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in Computer Science & Business.

Director of Engineering

Christian Eager

Chris has years of experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle. He’s worked as a sales engineer, in operations, and as a mobile and web app lead for companies small and large, including Plum and Nokia. He cares deeply about user experience and pragmatic software development. His B.A. is from Tufts University.

Howard Hartenbaum

Partner, August Capital

Howard Hartenbaum joined August Capital in 2008. Prior to joining, he served as a General Partner at Draper Richards LP where he was the founding investor in Skype and a former member of the board of directors where his achievement resulted in his joining the Forbes Midas List of top venture capitalists.

Before entering the venture capital field, Howard was at Hughes Electronics, where he was responsible for supporting business development, marketing and sales of satellite, information security and automotive technologies developed by HRL Laboratories. He also worked in engineering positions in ergonomics and user experience at Honda Motor Company and manufacturing at Teledyne Relays.

Howard has worked overseas for a total of ten years in Luxembourg and Japan. He is a graduate of M.I.T.

Mark Norman

President, Zipcar

Mark Norman has been in the car sharing industry since 2006 when he took the wheel at Flexcar, a Seattle-based car sharing company. He became president of Zipcar in 2007, when Zipcar acquired Flexcar, creating the world’s largest car sharing network. During his tenure at Zipcar, he has managed the company’s growth in 20 major metropolitan areas, and on more than 300 college campuses in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain and Austria.

Mark has significant executive experience in both early stage and global businesses, including roles as CEO of Flexcar; Chairman, President and CEO of DaimlerChrysler, Canada and Managing Director of Summit Systems, a technology distribution startup. While in the auto industry, he was responsible for teams numbering in the thousands and several billion in revenue. Mark holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Rice University as well as a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Joe Kraus

Partner, Google Ventures

Joe Kraus has been with Google Ventures since 2009.

Prior to Google Ventures, Joe was a two-time entrepreneur. In 1993, he co-founded Excite.com, an early Internet search engine, holding multiple positions in the company, including leadership roles in product, business development, and marketing. More recently, he co-founded JotSpot in 2004, a wiki company that was acquired by Google in 2006. While at Google, Joe had multiple product management roles including Blogger, Picasa, Sites, Friend Connect, and OpenSocial.

In addition, Joe has been an active angel investor in multiple companies, including LinkedIn, Aardvark (sold to Google in 2010), Kongregate, and OpenCandy. Joe is also on the board of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF.org).

Joe received a B.A. from Stanford University.

Shelby Clark

Founder, RelayRides

Shelby first tried car sharing when his car died after a cross-country move to California. He loved living a car-free life, but thought car sharing would work better and grow faster if it was “for the people, by the people”, a neighbor-to-neighbor experience. So he founded RelayRides. Shelby obtained his MBA from Harvard, where he cultivated his passion for entrepreneurship and social impact. Before Harvard, Shelby helped launch three socially focused startups. He was an early employee at Kiva.org, one of the fastest-growing nonprofits in history, where Shelby provided strategic direction while building internal systems to scale the organization. Previously, Shelby worked at Oliver Wyman as a management consultant, advising Fortune 500 companies on strategy and operations. Prior to Harvard, Shelby graduated with a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern.
